Grace finds a baby on her doorstep and decides to go to her father and ask for some money in order to go out on her own and raise the child as hers. While traveling to her father's work in the mines, she runs into Sam. He offers to take her to her father, who as soon as he finds out they were together overnight, claims that Sam must now marry her. Feeling no way out, he marries her, but now must escape her father's evil grasp as the man attempts to have him killed over some slight her perceived. He sends her back to his family in order to protect her and soon follows, narrowly escaping with his life. Now they must fend off a direct attack from her father and the even more evil man he works for.
