Review: The Dead

The Dead by James Joyce
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gabriel and Gretta attend a party. Upon returning home, Gretta bursts into tears at remembering a young man who was so enamored with her, he came to see her in a storm and his health being bad, died a week later. She has carried this with her for her whole life. The final paragraph is bittersweet and heart-wrenching, definitely adding it to one of my favorites.
