A Poetry Handbook by Mary Oliver
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is an excellent craft book about poetry. It lists a lot of the forms poetry takes, the tone, word play, diction, imagery. She also discusses the need to return to nature in order to connect to poetic comparisons and the need for solitude in order to write well. Also, editing is a necessary part of writing poetry as most of us do not write the perfect poem on the first go-around.
