We so often get
caught up in the day-to-day chaos and rarely take time out to just be still and
quiet. I sometimes wonder if the quietness is speaking to us but we are too
busy and too loud to hear it. Even the Bible says in Psalm 46: 10, “Be still,
and know that I am God.”
I wrote this short
little poem in February of 2020, not having any idea what was headed our way.
The Pandemic forced many to be still, but it seemed like a very unquiet time
regardless. For many of us, our spirits were not settled in the forced isolation.
If possible, find
a moment of quiet today. If you can, take a walk in the woods or a nearby park.
And if that isn’t something you can do, find a quiet spot, maybe a sunspot on
the front porch, or the quiet of a fireplace burning. Turn off all the
televisions, radios, even silence your phone and just spend a few moments
listening to the quiet. See what it has to tell you. Drink the silence into
your soul and find peace in what it has to say.
