Noel Street by Richard Paul Evans
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was a lovely tale about a single white mother raising a mix-race child in the mid 70's. Not only is she dealing with the hardships of working and raising a child on her own, living on a very limited income and dealing with continued mounting bills for car repairs, all while trying to provide a happy childhood and memorable Christmas for her son. Yet through it all she remains friendly, caring, and helpful to all, some who deserve her kindness, and sometimes to those who don't deserve it. She learns a lesson of forgiveness and reconciliation. And she never loses hope through it all. It's a wonderful Christmas story and an enjoyable read.
