Can Hens Give Milk? by Joan Betty Stuchner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A silly book about a family who has chickens but no cow. They want milk, but all they get is eggs. The father decides to feed to chickens grass, because he says that is why the cows give milk, but the hens don't like it. They call in the expert, a rabbi. He says they have no udders, that is why they don't give milk. He offers to exchange one of his goats which also give milk for some of their chickens. They do and everyone is happy. Then the father realizes the goat is so much bigger than the chickens, he wonders if they feed it chicken feed, will it give them a giant egg. What a great idea!
